Eastern Hill Organic Farm is set within 300 acres of native grasslands and forest in the picturesque central highlands of Victoria, Australia.
Located in the heart of ‘gold country’, we are 15k from the spa towns of Daylesford and Hepburn Springs, as well as central to Castlemaine, Ballarat and Bendigo.
Overlooked by Mt Kooroocheang, our property was once the Eastern Hill section of the Smeaton run of Captain Hepburn, the original European settler.
Prior to that our landscape formed part of the rich lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung tribes. Yam daisies, once a staple food for the tribe, still grow in our grasslands, and our creek has freshwater shell fish. Tracks of platypus have been identified and our forest is home to many rare wild plants.
Eastern Hill has ‘Land for Wildlife’ status. We have abundant native wildlife sharing our home and a habitat that ranges from forest, grasslands, rocky out crops and wetlands.
Today we are part of a rural landscape with a rapidly diversifying agricultural base. There are local vineyards and restaurants, stunning scenery, and a wonderful Mediterranean climate.
